blog - marianna penga

Just before Christmas we received an urgent order for appliglue from Cyprus.

Because it was Christmas and we know how busy the post can be over that time, we gave her a call.

We were surprised and delighted to make contact with Marianna, and to hear about her inspiring work with leather. We will be watching her progress avidly.

Marianna Penga is a Cyprus-based fashion accessories label.

The natural beauty of her homeland is a constant source of inspiration for Marianna, who embraces themes of nature and the aesthetics of love and romance to create beautifully innovative pieces based on modern materials and technology.

Marianna studied fashion and textile design at London 's Ravensbourne College , where she specialised in constructed textiles. She also has an MA in textile futures from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Marianna's debut collection, “Butterflies”, was shown at the 2005 Pulse Accessories Fair in London , and later at Top Drawer and Pure London. She also had consecutive shows at Éclat De Mode Paris in 2008 and 2009, where her “English Rose” collection, inspired by William Morris's textiles, was unveiled.

In 2011 Marianna exhibited at Leventis Museum's annual artists' show in Nicosia, while this year she designed a range of jewellery for the Zambelas Art Museum inspired by the museums paintings.

Marianna says. “I am fascinated by the manipulation and plasticity of materials, and I love marrying natural media with precious metals, such as wood and silver or leather and crystal. I am drawn to bold shapes, elegant forms, feminine details and exciting textures. I adore volume and three-dimensionality in all its forms, whether in fashion, textiles or architecture.

Marianna's motto is: “design is life”.
