Alice graduated from The University for the Creative Arts in Farnham in summer 2016.
'The buildings and architecture were the centre of my drawings and the gold came from the rich and decadent interiors, I particularly loved the Sheik Zayed Mosque. Even the crockery, glasses, walkways and pavements were covered in patterns. Once home I concentrated on the patterns and experimented with screen printing onto tiles I bought. I then decided to make my own tiles which was a great breakthrough. The tiles are so delicate and light and perfectly capture the beautiful sculpture of the city. The fabrics I used are cottons and silks, again reflecting the richness of these places.' |
